Fall/Winter Newsletter

Welcome to our first Fall/Winter Newsletter on the web! We thought we’d try the postcards this year and see what your reaction is to it. So, what do you think of that method of getting your Coupon Code and being directed to the letter?

We did send our first e-happenings but I think it was a flop. A lot of the addresses came back as undeliverable and a few people I checked with said they didn’t get it, even though their address didn’t bounce back. We’re thinking of starting a fresh list with those who place orders with the coupon code and anyone else that emails us about being on the e-happenings list. Technology can be so frustrating but it’s also a very important part of our lives today so I’m trying really hard to “get with it”!

And one of the ways that I’m working on becoming computer savvy is that I built the website you are on right now! I haven’t learned all the ins and outs yet but I am able to do the important things like add new products as they become available, put new specials on whenever I feel like it, update the Show Schedule, etc... It’s been really great and the feedback we’ve gotten so far has been very helpful. I don’t think it will ever be “done” as there is tweaking that can always be done.

So let’s get to the product news........... First, I want to talk about the Sandalwood Rose. I know there are a lot of you out there that want to order it (Yes, Tracey, I haven’t forgotten about your group!) Please let me know who you are by sending me an email. When we are finally able to get all the components that go into it we will send you an email that it is available. We’ve had a lot of difficulty this year with essential oils and botanicals! There have been a lot of natural disasters that have wiped out whole crops and the “political unrest” in some countries has made getting essential oil items impossible. We’ll keep watching the market and will make them available as we can.

One of the natural disasters that actually worked for us, although I am sorry for the farmers in India, is the Kerni Fern crop was a complete failure. That is the green that goes in the Holiday Memories potpourri. Dad and I redesigned the look with what was available and I’m happy to say that the response has been overwhelming! We have sold more Holiday Memories this year than any other season. Based on what we’ve heard from our customers, we’re going to keep making it with the new botanicals.

Have you had a chance to look around the website and check out the new items? Dad is making Wax Melting Tarts for us and they have been a HUGE hit! He’s using the oil we make potpourri with so you know they are good. There’s a good variety and you can’t beat the price. The company Scentsy has hit the market big time this year and while I don’t doubt they have good quality, the prices are pretty high. Dad is half the price and he’s gathering a good following of customers already.

The Yogurt Hand and Body Lotion that Mom and I make is a success! We currently have 4 scents available and will be adding 2-3 this coming year. We’re also working on facial/body scrub and bath teas.

We’ll be introducing a couple of new potpourri blends this year, starting in February. Thanks to all of you that gave us feedback on what scents you’d like us to use! One other piece of feedback we need – Almond Biscotti vs Snickerdoodle Cookie. Which would you rather have scenting your house?

A couple of things to mention that might help with your Christmas shopping list....... There is a section called GIFTABLES. We have items where it’s the last one available, some special “Gift Packs” that we are offering for the month, things like that. We also have a Yard/Garden Flag page. Besides ebay, where can you get a brand new flag for $5.00? We have Monogram flags that would make really great presents. We also put a button on the potpourri pages that asks if it’s a gift. If it is, we’ll put a label and jute bow on it to pretty it up for gift giving (The picture is on the Giftables page). Did I mention that you’d be buying American and keeping the money here?

Hope you held onto those postcards we sent – you’ll need the Coupon Code for the special offer! Place an order from now until February 29th (yes, it’s Leap Year), put your Coupon Code in and receive $5.00 off your order, no matter what size the order is. It’s our way of saying THANKS for all your support this past year.

It was a pretty rough year too but we made it through. In April we had an accident and totaled our van, picked some terrible shows that no one came to, got rained out several week-ends in a row, and yet, because of you, we persevered and have now completed our 10th year in business. We hope you know how much we appreciate you!

The way I’ve rambled it’s probably good we didn’t send this in the mail. I would have had to run my printer 24/7 sending reams and reams of paper through! We really would appreciate your feedback on the way we did it this year.

We pray you and your families have a safe and merry Christmas!
